How is astaxanthin produced?

DR. HEILBRONNER Organic Astaxanthin is extracted from the microalgae Haematococcus Pluvialis and pure spring water. These microalgae produce astaxanthin as cell protection to protect their genetic material and organelles from UV light in case of dry periods.
