Do you have an omega-3 deficiency?

Depressive moods, poor concentration, dry skin – just a few of the many possible consequences of an omega-3 deficiency
According to a study, men and women in Germany eat less than half the recommended amount of fish. 16 per cent of Germans do not eat any fish at all. This means that a key source of omega-3 is missing from today’s diet. If you do not make a point of meeting your omega-3 requirements through other omega-3-rich foods, there is a relatively high likelihood that you will develop a deficiency. You can find out whether you are also affected by an omega-3 deficiency in this blog post:
What exactly is omega-3?
Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid. They are essential for your body and fulfil important functions in your metabolism. Of particular importance are the plant-based alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which are derived from fish and algae.
What happens if you have too little omega-3 in your blood?
Among other things, omega-3 fatty acids help to regulate blood cholesterol levels and support healthy brain and heart function. If there is a deficiency in the body, this balance is disrupted. It can also affect your eyesight. For some people, the deficiency can also have a negative impact on their mood. Dry skin can also be a sign, as omega-3 fatty acids normally support the skin’s natural protective barrier, have an anti-inflammatory effect and moisturise the skin. Even if you suddenly find it difficult to concentrate, this could be an indication of a B-vitamin deficiency.
